9Grids Profiles: Arse feat.
Jake the Dog
I’m Arse. I’ve been working as 9Grids’ content writer and resident grammar checker since October 2018. I love working at 9Grids, and I love the team. One of the things I love most about the people here is that almost all of them are also fellow pet owners.
I have a dog. His name is Jake. He’s a Husky and Bichon mix and he’s turning three this August. When my partner and I moved in together in November 2016 in a building that allowed pets, we adopted Jake from my friend almost immediately because both of us believed that we were ready for it. We wanted a dog because we both grew up with dogs and we love the loyalty and affection that dogs show their humans, and we wanted to nurture a dog and give them all of the love, pats, and treats that they deserve.
When I get home from work, I run around with my dog at the house for play, and I take him out for a short walk for his exercise. But most of the time, we just hang out giving him scratches and head pats on the bed, because at night, Jake is also very fond of simply lounging around and resting with his humans.
Jake has brought us a lot of stability in our life. Working all day and having to deal with chores at night is difficult, but having Jake around makes everything worth it, and we love him forever for being able to bring us happiness when we’re feeling down.
If you want to get your own dog, you have to understand that it is a huge responsibility. Having a dog at home is like a second job, and it’s not something that you can just walk away from when you’re too tired. You’re going to lose sleep over your dog, especially in the first week of having them at home, but it is all going to be worth it if you persevere, because dogs return all the love that you give them tenfold.
Everybody here at 9Grids understands just how much I love my dog because they have pets of their own. 9Grids becomes a great support system because we all understand just how great - and how difficult - it is to be a parent to a great dog or cat. Having pets at home keeps us grounded in what’s really important, it keeps our heads focused on working as hard as we can so that we can come home and provide for the wagging tails greeting us at our door.
I’m happy that in 9Grids because I’m able to do good, valuable work that I love, and because it helps me provide for a very good boy that waits for me to get home everyday.
